THE PROGRAM Our program has a well-planned, two year curriculum with a Christian emphasis. We are licensed by the Department of Human Services, State of Minnesota. There are 20 children in each class taught by two teachers. Each day’s activities will be planned by qualified staff members. Our goal is to help children relate successfully to their peers and the world around them as well as to be prepared for kindergarten.

Our curriculum strives to introduce our students to their world and their community through creative play, books, songs, special visitors and field trips. We also hope to learn about each other, how we are alike and different, and to appreciate and respect ourselves and others.

PURPOSE AND MISSION Salem Pre School is open to three, four and five year old children of all faiths and cultural backgrounds. The purpose of our school is to provide the best possible Christian environment for the growth and development of children. The first five years of a child’s life are very important in forming the attitudes and traits which he/she will carry with him/her. Through games, crafts, creative dramatics, stories, music, indoor and outdoor play and sharing time, we hope to help each child grow socially, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually and move toward a positive self-image. A copy of our Child Care Program Plan is available for review upon specific request.

COMMUNICATION Good communication with our parents is very important to our staff. For this reason we start each year with a Pre School Get-Acquainted Conference in September before school starts. Parent-Teacher Conferences are held in early spring to let you know how the school year has been going. We also post “daily activity” notices outside our classroom doors and send monthly newsletters home with the students. Our school booklet, class lists, Calendar of Events, etc. will be handed out at our Parent Orientation Meeting at the beginning of school. Phone calls to our teachers and director as well as occasional visits to our classrooms are welcomed.

For a current look at our activities, check out our blog, www.salempreschoolnews.blogspot.com

CONFERENCES The first week of September we will hold our Pre School Get - Acquainted Conferences. The purpose of this conference is to give parents and their child a chance to visit their classroom together, meet the teachers and share a little about themselves with the teachers. By the end of the summer, families will receive an invitation to this conference.

The dates for the Spring Parent - Teacher Conferences will be announced in the fall. The purpose of this conference is to let parents know how the school year has been going for their child and what their interests and abilities are as we see them. Questions from parents are welcomed. Any time parents have questions about their child’s progress or activities at school additional conferences or phone conversations can be arranged.

PARENT ORIENTATION Parent orientation will be held at the beginning of the school year. Its purpose is to introduce you to our program and to each other. Also, we hope to answer any questions you may have about the program. The school calendar, class lists and other information will be handed out at this time.
